need help searching San Diego boards

We have not been to San Diego forever and are coming for a meeting at the convention center. We will be staying nearby without a car. I want to do a little reading before asking more specific questions. What are the best terms to use to search that area? I am assuming "downtown" and "convention center." Would I be correct to assume that we won't have much rapid transit to leave this area? Thanks, Tom Hall

search for "Gaslight" or "Gas Light" too, b/c this mistaken term is used by many visitors when they really mean the Gaslamp Quarter.

We always correct them, though, so Gaslamp will still hit the thread. :)

You could also look into Car2Go http://www.car2go.com/sandiego/en/area/

The operating area (where you can park for free at meters) is pretty large and might be worth it.

Then you could expand your search to Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Point Loma, Old Town, Liberty Station, Mission Hills, Hillcrest, North Park and Balboa Park.

        Search Gaslamp, Gaslamp Quarter, downtown.

Rapid transit is not San Diegos' strong suit but the trolley does give you some access. You can easily reach Little Italy, and Old Town via the blue line trolley. You can reach some of the more obscure (i.e. almost no tourists go there) via the orange line, and the blue line south to the border gives you access to a few options. Cabs are plentiful but pricey. We're spread out and mostly a car driven city.
