Bari for a week, HELP!-

M wife and i are staying at a hotel in Bari for a week at the end of March.We are at the mercy of public transportation.
We have never been to this part of italy before. Couldn't find much on the boards about Bari, any restaurant recommendations would be much appreciated.

Bari for a week? Which hotel are you staying in? There are tons of cute small places in Bari Vecchia, to have aperitivi at.

Here's some places:

Terranima for sure. One of the best places in town.

Il Tavolaccio

Extremely simple, local place, about a block away from the lungomare.

Al Sorso Preferitto - great old fashioned fish restaurant. Ask for the antipasti, and they bring small plates.

Il Focacciaro Via Salvatore Cognetti 43 Best focaccia in town. Also, don't miss their panzarotti and sublime onion rustic tart

Definitely stop by the Lungomare, across from Piazza Eroi de Mare, where the fish sellers set up in the morning and get a plate of fresh, raw sea urchins.

I've only been to the airport so am no real help to you. However, there are 2 restaurants in Bari city in my SlowFood Osterie guide; the guide is the English edition so there might well be additional listings in the newer Italian guides:

AL FOCOLARE DA EMILIO

LA LOCANDA DI FEDERICO

Both are closed on Mondays, according to the guide.
