Hi, Ive been living on Avenue C for 11 years now but I spent last year out of the country and just came back. Ive seen new places around but I dont know wich ones shold I try. Are there new (1-2 years) places around? Or old places thar have improved, or old places that I should avoid? Basically Id like an update of the food around my neighborhood. Thanks!!

  1. If your into organic veggy food
    Counter is worth trying
1st ave and like 5th street
I haven't tried it yet, but keep meaning to.
I am not a vegetarian but appreciate a good meal even if it's all veggies
I lived in east village for 20 years, and that would be the only place I consider worth trying

Counter, the upscale-ish vegetarian restaurant, on 1st Ave has closed. It's now the newly opened Empellon Cocina.

          That was quick,
Was hoping they would do ok,
Like the idea of something a little different over the standard restaurant menu

      2. I,m not sure how long Porchetta has been around, but it is on 7th street and has great potatoes and crispy pork. Misoya on 2nd Ave and St Marks for Hokkaido style ramen. Maharlika on 1st and 7th for Filipino food with a nice bar with good drinks. The Pacquiao Punch is a good one

        1. Bobwhite Lunch & Supper Counter opened in January. We finally made it there for lunch a few weeks ago. The fried chicken is sensational, and the biscuits are fantastic. We also had a salad and some mac 'n' cheese, both of which were delicious. Service couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating.
