one night in the south end?

looking for a recommendation for three adults meeting up in the South End.

Not looking for overly formal or the bar scene but more for good food enjoyed by three friends out for a rare night together.

What's hot these days in the South End? Which restaurant has the best food consistently?

Thanks for your suggestions

I also vote for Myers + Chang for great food and small plates w/ lots of variety, excellent and creative drinks and a happenin', happy atmosphere. There are a few somewhat recent threads on them w/ lots of recs. If Asian doesn't work for you, we find Aquitaine, classic French bistro, to be very very consistent in quality delicious food and professional and friendly servers, in a handsome comfy bustling room.

i second Toro or Coppa but recommend not going there on a Friday or Saturday night; their qualities are not a secret.

For a small group like your's

I would highly recommend Myers & Chang as it's a fun atmosphere, asian style small plates...just a fun night overall.

Other recommendations would be PICCO (again, casual, fun atmostphere)

Coppa and/or Toro are both amazing, but i'd warn you getting in is sometimes difficult...though Coppa does now take a few reservations over the phone.

second meyers and chang. you can get out far more reasonably, AND more sated, than at toro or coppa.

as for consistently excellent food, i vote hammersley's. you can dine very well on apps there, if that's your fancy, or have a great dinner with wonderful professional service, for about what you'd spend at toro, in a more grown-up environment.

many here like the gallows too, but we had a bad night and have not ventured back.

i never get the picco love on here. meh pizza and ice cream? plus, it's a frequent family destination and that isn't an atmosphere i recommend for a kids-free night out.

I second Hamersley's for "best food consistently." The OP mentioned nothing about wanting small plates.

The OP didnt say small plates...correct. But said whats "hot" these days...hammersly's is great but is not exciting. M & C is a great fun night out.
