Le Gourmand closing

I just read that Le Gourmand and Sambar are closing 6/2/12. I've only been a few times, but it has been great each time. I hope I can swing a last visit before they close.

  1. This is bad news. Any reason stated? I'm tempted to jump to the conclusion that the new "fashion-statement" restaurants (which themselves will never last as long as has LG) have siphoned off biz. I too will make a point of going for a few last visits.

As sorry as I am to see them close, I totally understand them wanting to do something different.

Especially since Bruce says he's cooked every meal ever served there! The poor guy is ready for a break, I'd think.
I'm not a huge fan of the restaurant but I'll miss Sambar.

Agree, Lauren.... and I just can't imagine working every single dinner since 1985! Sad to see them close...

COULDN'T AGREE MORE - The restaurant biz is TOUGH and FICKLE - and until you realize you need to GUARD your favorites with support, they will disappear.

            Hi, Phil:

A valuable lesson--when applied. I suppose pledging my fealty now would be insufficient to get you to reincarnate Lofurno's? I'm sure there will be spaces and staff available all over town...

            Aloha Aikane,

i am searching for my WEBSTER to look up FEALTY, before i decide. Lunch #2 should be soon.

Fealty is either veal prepared in the manner of Gefilte fish, or a vassal oath of fidelity, I can't remember which.
