Dinner before drinks at the Oak Bar

We're coming in on the T, to Copley. Any thoughts as to where to dine, not too expensively, nearby?
TIA!

I am confused. You want an affordable dinner followed by a $20 cocktail?

      LOL, yes, that's what I requested! I was attending a meet-up, and I didn't choose the place. I did find a drink for less than $20. :)

The Oak Room, and the Oak Bar area is closed. They have turned the St. James room into a dining / bar area. From what our server said, I guess the Oak Room will not even be oak. Seems a shame. Nice to have a cozy wood lined room for drinks and shmoozing.

We had a very nice dinner at Coda. As I'm on a move for us to get out more often, I'm happy to have all the suggestions!

Sad about the Oak Bar. No more birthday martini's - maybe a good thing.

That makes me sad. I hope this isn't yet another corporate crash and burn renovation.

Thanks, Berheenia, C. and total13. I'm keeping this list, as we're planning to make going out in the area a regular thing. Tonight, we're going to Coda!

So, the Oak Bar is still open? I had heard (via Boston Globe article, I think) that they were closing for "renovations" around the beginning of 2012. It was around Thanksgiving that the article came out because we made a big fuss about going there with our 5YO so she could experience the "special place" that her dad and I go to. I am very happy to hear that they haven't shuttered the doors as yet (obviously, we had not checked).

my understanding is the oak room is closed until spring for renovations. the oak bar remains open.

I was thinking of Coda, but for some reason, I thought it was too far away. Thanks!
