Anyone been to Lina Frey recently?

Have never been there for dinner but have a Blackboard Eats coupon. There are quite a few recent negative reviews on both Open Table and Yelp both regarding service and food. I think people tend to chime in more about bad experiences than good ones on both those sites --- so before I take the plunge and have dinner at Lina Frey, have any hounds been there lately and should I bother?

I had dinner there about a week ago. The service was perfectly fine, although our server had trouble remembering that we were waiting for another couple and came by about five times to ask whether we were ready to order. I liked the look of the place very much: high ceiling, spacious room, slightly scruffy decor. But while the mismatched metal chairs are cute, they're not pleasant to sit on.

The food ranges from okay to good. The grilled calamari salad was well-made, with little bits of pineapple and ye olde mesclun salad mix (which turned up again next to everyone's entree). I also had the mussels, which were tiny and tough, and the broth they were steamed in was extremely salty. Fries were excellent. I had a bit of the salmon, which was fine. Overall, it's a decent place and portions are generally large, so it's a good value. But I don't think I'd return.

I ate there over the summer and really enjoyed it, thanks for reminding me to go back. Very sweet French servers, not too professional but who cares...it's a quirky, laid-back place. I believe I also had the grilled calamari, very good, and hanger steak, which I also enjoyed. Just the sort of little bistro I'm always seeking but are hard to find.
