Does Bread Talk Have The Best Egg Tarts in Chinatown?

Serious Eats seems to think so, and so do a bunch of Yelpers. I went to Bread Talk, but did not try the egg tarts since I typically don't spend my limited quota of cholesterol on egg tarts (unless it's at Golden Gate Bakery in San Francisco). But I did try some of the other items at Bread Talk, and it was definitely good stuff, so the high praise for their egg tarts may be warranted. Also their egg tarts are priced well below the Chinatown average, to boot. Bread Talk is at 47 Catherine Street, which if I recall correctly almost gets you to Monroe St.

I Like the egg custard ( Dan Tat) at Sun Lite bakery( the old Golden Carriage). But I think 00 or QQ bakery on East Bway ( i could never figure out the font on the name) is the best. They also have the white variety that I think has coconut in it.

I've always thought it said QQ. When you say white, do you think it might be an egg white tart?

At QQ, Not sure if it is eggwhites, but that makes sense , but they call it coconut. Same crust and consistency as regular egg custard or tart

there is a coconut version and an egg white version that are not that uncommon. if it doesn't taste coconutty then it's def the egg white version
