Recommendation for Small Chinese Banquet in Oakland
With Silver Dragon closing soon, and Legendary Palace being a bit too expensive, I need recommendations on a Chinese restaurant in Oakland that can handle 40-50 people.
I rarely eat in Oakland Chinatown, and notice most of the places are too small to handle a large group.

Fortune at 900 Webster has some interesting "wo choy" sets. probably the 10 person ones will suit you.. our fam usually get the 4 person/$68 one. new openings, joy luck on 8th and new ideas (king wah) on 9th. are roomy and have "wo choy" also.
noticed many chinese resturants in the dimond district are medium sized and can easily hosts
50 people: ly luck, fountain garden, happy garden, etc. -

Would your group be open to going to Alameda instead of Oakland? Easier to park (there's a lot in the back) and you could take five large tables toward the back or in the side room.
Price I'd estimate to be in between the two spots you named.

re: Melanie Wong
I second this recommendation for East Ocean in Alameda. They do a really good job working with people to set up banquets and I think the food is much better than Silver Dragon/Peony/Legendary.
Call them up and they are usually willing to customize a menu for an occasion. I've seen them do it for as small as a 3 table party.
