Please help me find a great italian, greek or mediteranean rest. around tribeca
Hi everyone, I am new to this site. I am from Tucson and will be coming to NYC for 1 night only on February 24 and then off to NJ for the rest of my trip. My boyfriend and I, who are both community college teachers, would love to find a healthy , cozy, italian, greek or mediterranean restaurant around lower manhatten. I love vegetables and eat fish only as far as meat, he eats everything. We cannot spend $200.00 for dinner! Any suggestions?
Ristorante Aglio is exceptional, it is a new place, so very little press. The chef cooked for years in a 2 star Michelin restaurant in Tuscany. The fish there is excellent , and the Pasta batarga is also excellent/ Greenwich Grill I like a lot, its cozy and different. Acapella is "old school" italian, with waiters in Tuxedoes, better for older crowd but good food. Some people here on CH love Locanda Verde, I personally didn't like the service or the food. They say also say "family style" but give small portions. Cinque is a nice place and has good food. Tre Sorelles is small and really cheap has great pizza and good spaghetti and meatballs, but I don't recommend it as a "special" place. Another poster recommended Max. Max is very reasonable but I have been there 3 times and had very bad food. Even my escarole was horrible , how can you mess up escarole?
