Busaba--Vegan/Vegetarian Thai
Stark white table cloths, green chopsticks, and folded napkins make for an unexpectedly elegant interior one block west of La Brea on Melrose. It was something of a coincidence that we noticed this place, east of all the trendy boutiques on our way to California Vegan. While we love CV, we were feeling adventurous. The portions were right, the prices inexpensive (plus they gave us 20% off of our order and told us they are doing this promotionally as they are new). But all these dont make a chowhound. The food was impeccably seasoned! They have 3 different levels of spicy-ness from which to choose which was good for our diverse palates. My friend got this delicious green curry with rotiI got an eggplant dish. My sister ordered Pad See-Ew. We were all happy. As we were walking out they mentioned they are opening Sunday officially and will have a jazz band, I think. Anyway, our waitress was so hospitable, and the food so fresh and tasty that we are thinking of going there again this week. A delicious bargain!
We parked on Formosa, not far.

We tried Busaba for the first time recently for lunch. Everything we had was terrific. Nothing too oily or salty. The dumplings (ordered them steamed) were some of the best we ever had anywhere (from NY to L.A.). Does anyone know where we can find such wonderful veggie dumplings so we can steam them up at home??? We noticed they came in a large bulk bag probably pre-frozen (which didn't bother us at all because they were still very yummy).
