Flour +Tea in Pasadena on Arroyo

  • 7

drove down Arroyo today and looks like something called Flour + Tea is being created at Cordova and Arroyo at the ground floor of the somewhat new condos across from the New Balance store. I'm assuming it's a coffee shop but anyone else know anything about it? i say it's a pretty ambitious spot seeing that there's hardly any street parking on that block.

  1. Hi Trolley. I have not noticed it, but will make sure to pay closer attention next time I drive by. There is 90 minute free parking in the lot under that monstrosity.

    1. I was at Ten Ren's Tea Time in Chinatown this weekend, and one of the guys who worked there (seemed like the manager) handed me a flour + tea business card to let me know that that's their new Pasadena boba/tea shop.

Interesting. Apparently Pasadena is the cradle of the "diffusion line" (or perhaps luxury line) tea shop:

Wing Hop Fung -> Bird Pick Tea
Ten Ren -> Flour + Tea

grace323, could you post the details from the card? Telephone number? URL?

@ Peripatetic, here's a link the biz card (front & back):

"Flourandtea.com" isn't working, but there's contact info available:

          238 S Arroyo Pkwy #110
          Pasadena, CA 91105

If you do check it out, I'm curious to know if the tea quality is just about the same as Ten Rens/Tea Station in the San Gabriel/Arcadia area...

My wife likes going for tea at the Tea Station location in San Gabriel, so we'll probably be there on the first week to see whether it will be a good (or better) substitute.

It's the same quality since it is owned by the Ten Ren Group which runs Cha for Tea, Ten Ren's Tea Time and Tea Station. This location just has a full bakery component to serve Asians in the Pasadena area. A definite must try

The tea is the same quality, but the care that goes into preparing the drinks is much better here. It's the first time I've managed to get really good milk tea with the right amount of sugar. We also tried some of the baked goods, which are also very good.

I'm also sold on their "FroStea" drinks, which are essentially milk tea Frappucinos.
