What Pepper? Red, slightly spicy and somewhat sweet

I was at a Mexican restaurant and they served me some sliced peppers on my entrée which I really enjoyed. I tried asking what they were but they didn't speak English so it was a lost cause.

The pepper was sliced thinly, it was red and was just a little bit spicy but also somewhat sweet. It was like a red bell pepper but spicier with a gentler skin. I have searched and searched and keep coming up blank. Anybody have any ideas as to what pepper this was?

  1. Some types of bell peppers are mildly hot, such as Mexi-Bell.

Never even heard of these. Thanks

    2. What was the diameter of the slices?

short diameter maybe 1/8" and long diameter maybe 1-2"

The shape sounds like a New Mexico or an Anaheim. Possibly a Cubanelle.

      2. maybe a ripe jalapeno

        1. Sounds like it could be a ripe Cubanelle pepper.

Other possibilities are ripe versions of the Poblano or Peppadew.

have you tried a peppadew? Not really Mexican but fits the description.
