What Pepper? Red, slightly spicy and somewhat sweet

I was at a Mexican restaurant and they served me some sliced peppers on my entrée which I really enjoyed. I tried asking what they were but they didn't speak English so it was a lost cause.

The pepper was sliced thinly, it was red and was just a little bit spicy but also somewhat sweet. It was like a red bell pepper but spicier with a gentler skin. I have searched and searched and keep coming up blank. Anybody have any ideas as to what pepper this was?

Sounds like it could be a ripe Cubanelle pepper.

Other possibilities are ripe versions of the Poblano or Peppadew.

What was the diameter of the slices?

The shape sounds like a New Mexico or an Anaheim. Possibly a Cubanelle.

Some types of bell peppers are mildly hot, such as Mexi-Bell.
