Windmill Hot Sauce at Tite's Tropical Mart

Tite's Tropical is a little bodega on Norfolk St in Cambridge, a short walk from Central Square. It looks like nothing special from the outside, and inside there's not too much to distingulish it either. They do carry Ting, one of my favorite sodas, in both the pink grapefruit and original grapefruit varieties. I didn't try the beef patties right by the cash register, although they looked good, but what I did try was the Windmill Brand Hot Pepper Sauce from Barbados.

A good friend lives right next to Tite's Tropical and said that the very friendly owner recommended this Windmill sauce highly. The owner is indeed very friendly. And WOW, it is just the best hot sauce I've ever had. It's quite hot, but has a spicy depth. Of course, this is different than Chinese la jiao, Siracha or even Mexican chili peppers, but is a great substitute for Tabasco, Frank's and that ilk. I've been putting it on tostadas, eggs, and crudités at home the last few days and I'm not tired of it yet.

nice find. you can find a locally made West Indian hot sauce at Singh's Roti in bottles for sale. Mr Singh told me the peppers are grown right in boston.

also try homemade Inner Beauty at ECG, you may have to go on a hell night..

I really miss Inner Beauty. Couldn't Chris bottle it again for a smaller distribution. Back in the day it was on most area grocers shelves.
