Can I clean shrimp a night in advance?

Hi all. I want to cook Valentine's Day dinner this year, but tend to work late and want something make-ahead and/or something I can throw together very quickly. Was thinking of shrimp and grits, cleaning the shrimp the night before and cooking the night of. Will the shrimp stay good? Thanks in advance!

  1. You can definitely clean the shrimp the night before. Shrimp can spoil quickly though if not kept cold. If your doing a lot, it's a good idea to keep them on ice (or in a metal bowl on ice) will you work.

    1. Most definitely do them the night before and store in a ziploc bag or tupperware. They will be totally fine for one day.

      1. yup. even better is to clean, put in a bag and store over ice in the fridge. unless you know they are super super fresh.

        1. Great question, and thanks all for the answers!!
