Methodist Hospital Brooklyn

  • 9

I need to grab an egg and cheese sandwich on Mondy morning, to bring to a friend at Methodist Hospital. Can anyone tell me of a good place to get this?
I will be coming from Manhattan on the "F" train, so I think someplace on 7Avenue would be good. Don't really know that area at all, and just need a quick sandwich to take out, so any help will be appreciated. This is not for a :gourmet" breakfast!!
Thanks

  1. Assuming you are taking the F to 9th St. and 7th Ave, there's a coffee shop (Purity Diner) which you will pass on the way to the hospital, corner of 7th Ave and 7th St, which should be fine for what you are looking for. There's also a better coffee shop right on 7th bet 9th & 8th St, called 7th Ave. Donuts. Be sure to get a donut there to go with the sandwich.

Alternatively, a little more refined egg and cheese can be had Zito's Sandwich shop, also on 7th Ave. near 7th St. but they don't open until 11, so it depends what time you are going.

    So lots of options!

    Seventh Avenue Donuts
    324 7th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215

    Purity Diner

    Zito's Sandwich Shoppe
    300 7th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215

    1. I would just go to La Bagel Delight right across the street. Far better than purity, never been to Zito's though...

La bagel delight is the right choice - though im sure zito's would also be good (we like their non-breakfast sandwiches).

Depending on your commitment to said friend (or how close a friend it is) id personally recommend going a tiny bit out of your way to the bagel hole, which would require you to go a couple of blocks out of your way (away from the hospital on 7th) but, imo, has superior bagels (we like La Bagel too, they have good lunch-like sandwiches, and offer a much wider range of options - BH is just bagels, spread, no toaster, its pretty bare bones, really, but what they do, they do well).

I forgot about Bagel Delight! That would be fine too. But the OP asked for an egg and cheese sandwich...you won't find that at Bagel Hole. Anyway as you can see from the map there are plenty of choices between the subway and the hospital.

      2. Thanks, everyone. It looks like I have a bunch of decent choices. I think I am leaning towards
La Bagel Delight, but I'll probably decide after I check-out each place!!
        Thanks again.

Wow, I hope I'll have such a great friend if I'm ever stuck in the hospital!

            Bookistan,
I hope you WILL have such a good friend, but that you will never need this!!

        2. So where did you finally go? Were you happy with what you got?

Hope your friend is doing well...

I went to La Bagel Delight and it was fine. I got one chicken salad sandwich and one egg salad sandwich and both were good. The sandwiches were very generously stuffed with the chicken salad and the egg salad and they served the purpose.. quick, filling food.
On my return from the hospital, I noticed a board outside Purity Diner and they had an egg on a roll for about $2.00, and that would have been fine, as well. Maybe next time!!
