Don't know Sams...only Costco...there they have Acme and Kirklands (house brand) nova...no lox. I would not spend the extra for a party. I think the Acme nova is delicious and about $13/lb.
Since I don't have a club membership, I buy mine at TJoes -- I get the "pieces" which are not itty bits or scraps, just smaller slices. Seems it's 6.99 for 8 oz. and it's just fine.
