Restaurant with really good burger and mac and cheese?

moto87 Feb 3, 2012 12:14 PM

I know there are tons of threads about the best burger in the city, and others about the best mac n cheese, but can anyone recommend a restaurant that has a really good burger AND mac n cheese? They're two of my boyfriend's favorite dishes, and I'm looking for a restaurant that has stellar versions of both. And if they have mashed potatoes as well on their menu, that would be an added plus.

    Blue Smoke might work.

What about the Redhead? I admittedly haven't had the burger (although it's supposed to be one of their trademarks I think) or the mac & cheese but both are definitely on the menu and I always I have enjoyed everything else on their menu.

I liked the Redhead burger when I tried it but my friends and I thought the patty had some sort of sauce of seasoning added. We were fine with it, but purists wouldn't be. It tasted a bit like Worcestershire or soy sauce.

Brother Jimmy's serves both. While they aren't known for the burgers, they are pretty damn good. (I'm partial to the sliders myself) and the mac and cheese is creamy and cheesy. Mashed potatoes also on the menu.

You can try Tribeca Tap Room, they have good mac n cheese and good burgers and mashed potatoes. You can try Walker's their burgers are great, they have good mashed potatoes and good chili. Sometimes they have mac n cheese. Big Nick's has great burgers , they have mac n cheese but i never tried it and they have mashed potatoes.

Thanks for the replies so far--this is great.

Blue Smoke sounds like a good choice. I'm always wary of mac n cheese at BBQ joints, since I feel they tend to lean more towards easy mac then real homemade mac and cheese, but I'll have to give theirs a try.

I love Good Enough to Eat for brunch but have never thought to go there for non-breakfast food. I bet it's good though, based on the quality of their brunch!

And I've heard great things about Dumont Burger, so if I can get my boyfriend to trek out to Brooklyn, that would definitely be an option!

I had Mac n Cheese the other day with burger mixed in it at Sarita's aka S'Mac. They have the largest selection of Mac n Cheese dishes that i've seen anywhere.. It's on E12th St

I've never tried the Smith. Almost went there the other night and ended up at St Alps. I'll have to try their burger. I have yet to find the perfect burge
