Maui Noodles and Shrimp Trucks?

Traveling to Maui the first part of March. Haven't visited since this time last year and am wondering if anyone knows of any new noodle, pho or saimin offerings? Also, I always enjoy the shrimp trucks on North Shore Oahu, which you can smell from several miles away with the vehicle's top down:=) Although I always look, I've never seen any on Maui. Where are they hiding, if there even are any? Thanx for the help. Counting down the days.

  1. For saimin you need to go to Sam Sato's in Wailuku. I crave their Dry Mein and usually go there straight from the airport. They have no website but here is a link to a review: The pics below are ones I took on my last trip.

As for shrimp trucks, Maui has no shrimp aquaculture like Oahu does, hence there are no shrimp trucks that I know of.

Geste's has a shrimp truck on Kahului Beach Rd. just at the entrance to Kahului Harbor Park. I've not stopped there, but it gets rave reviews on Trip Advisor and has been there several years now.

Thank you so much for the recommendations, dahulagirl and rexster. We leave a week from tomorrow and I can't wait!

Probably too late for you pilotgirl, but I hope you had a chance to try Geste's Shrimp truck in Kahalui during your trip. My wife and I just got back yesterday from a trip to Maui, and I am still thinking about those shrimp! We ate there twice, my favourite was the Hawaiaan Scampi, we also tried the Spicy Pineapple and the Hot and Spicy, which were also very good. The crab and mac salad was also good. Good sized shrimp (12 per order, that tasted pretty fresh and are made to order.

Eat your heart out, we're going to Geste's one more time today before we leave Saturday. Hot n Spicy for me. Dumping the rice off in the sauce; can't get any better than that!

I am jealous! I"ve already looked up recipes for hawiian Scampi! Rice dumped in sauce is definately the way to go.
