Mistral.... I was forewarned

I was told in another thread that the place would be noisy and, indeed it was. The room is too narrow to be comfortable. There's a bar along the east wall, a center row for tables and a row of tables on the west wall. The bar and 2 rows of tables are separated by 2 narrow aisles, The aisle next to the bar is crowded with standees bumping up against the back of your chair if you happen to be unlucky enough to sit in that 1st row. The other aisle is jammed with waitstaff running back and forth, diners either arriving or leaving or wanting to use the bathrooms which are located in the kitchen/prep area.
The food: I'd planned on having the escargot but when I saw sweetbreads on the app menu I opted for that. For $16 and change they give you 4 tiny slivers in a balsamic reduction. It was good but certainly not worth the price. I ordered the braised shortrib. It comes with a tiny dollop of mashed, a nice portion of braised leeks (superb) and some baby brussel sprouts. The ribs were excellent; fatty and full of beef flavor.
Mrs. G had the baby lamb chops which I tasted. It was good but rather bland and lacked a strong lamb flavor.
The only way I'd go back is on someone else's dime.
