Molten Chocolate Cake
Hi,
I know everyone's got one of these on their menu nowadays, but can anyone recommend a place that does one particularly well? Preferably from a bakery or someplace where I can take it home. I'm flexible with location, but the closer to DTLA, the better. A friend mentioned Susina Bakery, but I wanted to see if I could get a few more opinions. Thanks!
I think a Molten Lava Cake is one of those things that doesn't travel well -- it has to be served hot in order to get the molten part right.
We like the one from Roy's. Morton's also does a good one.

Agreed, unfortunately the take-home part is more a matter of logistics than personal preference.

You can probably get some from Roy's for "take out" if you call them. Also if you go over to the Home Cooking board/or search online I know that Roy's has a recipe floating around for it somewhere (probably Googleable).

Pazzo Gelato has them to go unheated.

Go to Costco.
Buy a box of the Sweet Streets Molten Chocolate Cake.
Go home.
Pop one in the Microwave.
Heat for 40-50 seconds.
Eat.

Not sure if they still carry them, but Trader Joes also used to have them in the frozen section. They are quite good.
