Sarah Bernhardts

Do any bakeries in DC or northern Virginia sell a sort of cookie known as Sarah Bernhardts?

Google it. There are a multitude of recipes and at least one web cite where you can order them, but they aren't cheap.

I did use Google and I did find information about recipes and mail-order sources. However, Google did not supply me with an answer for the question I asked here.

What is a Sarah Bernhardt? Btw this was my nickname from my Grandparents when I was a little girl. Apparently I was a little....dramatic. :)

It's a filled almond-and-chocolate cookie that I just learned about from a Facebook group for people who grew up in my hometown where some folks started gushing about the Sarah Bernhardts that a fancy bakery there used to make (and, it turns out, still makes). So I got a hankering to try them.
