herbal tea

I recently cut caffeine out of my diet for medical reasons and I thought I would supplant my habitual coffee drinking with herbal tea. To do it right, I wanted to get a bunch of really good options. Are there any stores that have a really good selection of herbal tea and are there any varieties that you specifically recommend?

McNulty's in the West Village has a wide selection of decaf and herbal teas. It's so individual as to taste, best to experiment and see what you like. Or probably if you tell them what sort of caffeinated teas you used to prefer, they'll give you some suggestions.

I think you would enjoy Rooibos (African Red Bush Tea), and it's good for you.

Fairway on the Upper West Side has a wide selection of herbal teas (many different brands) upstairs with the health/organic foods. One of my favorites is Alvita brand, particularly their Spearmint. And the prices are very good.

If you're downtown, Harney & Sons has a pretty wide selection of teas, herbal and not. I like several of their fruit-based herbals and the rooibos isn't bad either. (I usually end up going to their website and seeing what's available before I buy in-person at the store.)

for an easy purchase of good herbal teas that are in your local stores Celestial Seasons has lots. Their Sleepytime tea is excellent, Chamomille is good, their red zinger is real good for the morning ( no caffeine). For large assortment of herbal teas, that are sold loose, Angelica is place to go to get things like pennyroyal, mullein, golden seal, red clover leaves etc etc and make your own brews that are also very good for different health or curative reasons.
