herbal tea
Hi,
I recently cut caffeine out of my diet for medical reasons and I thought I would supplant my habitual coffee drinking with herbal tea. To do it right, I wanted to get a bunch of really good options. Are there any stores in Queens or Brooklyn that have a really good selection of herbal tea and are there any varieties that you specifically recommend?
Thanks!

I would try "Two for the Pot," at Atlantic and Clinton Aves in Cobble Hill/Brooklyn Heights. I think it's mostly loose leaf teas and spices, but there's an ornery old man who works there that always has excellent advice. Some of the best peppermint tea I've consumed came from there.

re: PaMa
This might not be what you are looking for but I go for a massage in SoHo a couple of times a year and look forward to their "quiet room" where they have herbal teas and dried fruits, etc. Believe me I am not an herbal tea drinker (and usually leave there and head directly to Balthazar for a cappuccino) but they have a tea at this spa that I always look forward to drinking. The last time I was there there was none left in the canister and I expressed my disappointment and upon leaving they gave me a box of Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice tea which is what it was all along. It is spicy and delicious. I have purchased many boxes after that and I am hooked. Good luck!
