Help! I forgot to plug in my crockpot last night [moved from Home Cooking]

I'm so ashamed of myseld... total rookie mistake. I prepped a soup last night by sauteeing up a few pieces of chopped bacon, added dried white beans, water, chopped carrots & celery, and cabbage. Turned it on at 11pm and didn't realize that it wasn't plugged in. I have a limited sense of smell, so I didn't realize that it wasn't cooking until about 10am this morning.

I'm inclined to throw it all out, but thought I'd get the opinion from you all. Chuck it or turn it on and eat it tonight?

  1. Since the only meat in it was bacon, which is cured, and you used water instead of a meat stock, I would go ahead and cook it up.

      Me too. Limited amount of bacon, mostly veggies and beans, I wouldn't have an issue with it.

        agreed. especially since im assuming you still need to simmer it for a while
