roadtrip for valentines day

We are driving to south padre island for valentines day on 35S, I would like to stop at some of the restaraunts that have been featured on diners-drive ins and dives but I dont want to go too far out of the way, any suggestions on the best ones not off the path? Thanks.

^ This site has most of the places that have been on DDD and the travel channel's "no reservations".....its great, you just type in your area code, state or city and they will pop up on a map.....the best part is that they make a app for it on android, and maybe the iphone but I'm not sure.

EDIT: They actually have a full line of "food" shows that they list on the site....

Don't know if there's a DD&D tie-in, but if I were making that trip I'd do a BBQ crawl through Lockhart and Luling. Some brisket and a sausage ring from Black's, Kreuz, Smitty's and City Market would make for quite a feast, and you can stop in at Chisholm Trail if you need some good side dishes.
