Onigri in YYC

DeeDub Jan 27, 2012 10:52 AM

When I used to live in Vancouver I worked across the street from Fujiya where I would pick up Onigri pretty much on a daily basis. I have not had these sushi-to-go style snacks in a couple of months and I am craving them something firece. After doing a quick Google search I found this local company http://www.theonigiricompany.com/ but it looks like they are currently not set up at a regular spot. Anyone know where I can purchase these? My first guess is T&T but last time I was there I didn't see them. Thanks.

I saw them at the sushi stand at Kingsland Farmers Market once. Not sure if they always have them.

I tried the ones from that site you posted. The guy sold them at Sunnyside Farmers Market last summer briefly. If you contact him, you might be able to place an order. Nice guy. However, the meats were all cooked in the ones I tried.

The onigiri company looks great. I've lived in Calgary for a few years now and haven't come across it yet... hopefully someone will bring a onigiri food truck into the Calgary food scene.

Temaki cones are pretty similar - I like Sushi Club - good blend of flavours and texture.

I did see these for a while at Blush Lane Organics in Aspen Landing, but I don't recall seeing them during my last couple visits, perhaps they weren't selling?
