Fish Restaurant Name in San Antonio

In 2007, I went to a restaurant that was highly recommended for its seafood on a work trip in San Antonio. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name but would like to go back to it on an upcoming work trip. The place also had good drinks.

While I was staying on the Riverwalk, it was about a mile to a mile and a half walk from the Riverwalk area to the restaurant. On the walk, we passed by a radio station festival in a courtyard, passed what look like a drive-in restaurant and ended up in a single house building which was a restaurant with good drinks and fish dishes. There was also a tower building on the left a few blocks away that we passed on the walk.

Do you know which restaurant? It was recommended a few times to my colleagues and I by locals who lived in the area. If not, are there any good places to get fish for dinner? Thank you!

  1. Are you referring to Sandbar? If so, they have moved to the Pearl Brewery.

Ostra on the Riverwalk is good and also has an oyster bar.

I don't think it was either though Sandbar sounds good. Perhaps it was not a seafood restaurant though I remember it having many fish options on the menu. There was not an oyster bar rather a few different rooms that were not very large. I tend to eat a lot of fish but not shellfish and for some reason five years later, the meal stands out. It was about a 20 minute walk from the Hyatt.

Based on your description, doubt it was Sandbar since they didnt move to the Pearl until a couple years ago. My best guess is that might have been Azuca on South Alamo as it's about 20" walk, has lots of seafood (latin themed)options, and great drinks. Hands down, best seafood in SA is Sandbar, no close second.

Yes, thinking about it it must have been Azuca, the courtyard would be the courtyard at La Villita and the drive in the Acapulco Drive-in (which just closed). Actually Azuca has got pretty good fish and wonderful mojitos!
