I'm not sure if you (OP) want to limit your Spanish choices to tapas/raciones only as all recommended ones, so far, have been tapas establishments.
If, in case, you want to do a real Spanish dinner, you probably can't do worse than looking into La Fonda del Sol in the Grand Central area, La Nacional in Chelsea and Sevilla in the W Village. All these serve hearty Spanish (Iberian) foods beyond, and including, tapas.

I think the food is better at Boqueria or Mercat, but I kind of prefer the down and out atmosphere of La Nacional. There is something very homey about it that matches the simplicity of the cooking.
