Looking for a good Vietnamese restaurant in Long Beach

foodhunter Jun 14, 2006 07:04 PM

I'm fairly new to Long Beach and don't know of any Vietnamese restaurants in the area. I would love to be able to get a good bowl of pho without having to make the trek to Westminster. Does anyone know of a place around Belmont Shores or downtown area?

ive had pho at alot of places in garden grove and down anahiem st, and my favorite so far has to be sophie's on anaheim between termino/loma.

    crispy fried garlic makes it!

benley's on Wardlow is much better than the ones in Garden Grove in my opinion.

Google map + hours of operation:

Bentley's on Wardlow (about a mile east of the 605) is pretty good. Good pho plus a few tasty meat and veggie dishes but if your going to drive there you might as well go a little further to Westminster for the best Vietmanese food in So Cal.

            Long Beach, CA 90813

            Pho 54
            1036 E Anaheim St
            Long Beach, CA 90813

            Saigon Express

Pho 54 is fine, not great, but always crowded.

I believe Hoai Huong has new ownership. If it's the place I'm thinking of, it was quite good; maybe they have the same cooks with the new owners.

Haven't been to Saigon Express. Near LBCC? If so, I've heard good things.

I've been going to Long Beach Pho on Willow near Magnolia. I like the broth a lot.

Kevin, I believe, posted a positive review of a new Vietnamese place on the eastern end of Wardlow called Benley's. It's east of the 605. Good reviews in the papers, as well.

To my knowledge, there are no pho places in Belmont Shores or downtown LB. But there are many Vietnamese/Cambodian/Thai places on Anaheim Street.

Thanks, I will try Hoai Huong. Anaheim St. is pretty close to me so it's perfect. Thanks for the recommendations!
