Walked by there today and it is all papered over. I think perhaps a reno which wouldn't be before time. Not sure if same owners. Anyone?

The sign on the door reads:

    IT'S THAT TIME!

    TIME FOR RENEWAL!

    TIME FOR
    RENOVATION

    WHAT WILL IT BE?

YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE!

    IT'S A
    MYSTERY!

Apparently it is closed rather than renos. Heard a rumour that Zelda's may be relocating there.

Didn't they just move to Yonge Street? Or does it just feel like it just happened because I'm getting old?

I'm not surprised they're closed. There's been no activity in that space. No evidence of renovations at all.

This article suggests that Zelda's is staying put where they are on Yonge.

Do you know if it is for sale?

Walked by there today and see that there is a sign in the window that there are new owners once again. I didn't hear too many good things about the Big Johnson and there never seemed to be too many people there. Wonder who is tackling it this time?

I know we are not supposed to talk about places from the past but that restaurant was, in the 80's, one of the few left that was an authentic old restaurant with the jukeboxes at each table that you put coins into. It was a great breakfast place. Once they renovated around 1990 it went downhill. I went once and never again.

Any change would be for the better there. That's seriously some of the worst food I've ever consumed in Toronto.

Agree totally. The only thing I occasionally go there for is breakfast. They have good sausages.

Agreed the food was gross - lets hope it's totally new owners that will create something good for the hood.

the only time i've been there was to get breakfast to cure a hangover and i actually felt a bit worse after.
