Calling Chinese seafood lovers in Markham/Richmond Hill

Hi CH'ers,

I'm looking for a good seafood restaurant in the Markham/Richmond Hill area for a CNY/birthday gathering with family this weekend. Hoping you can give me some recommendations.

Just have a few criteria:

- must take reservations
- have large table for 13 people
- has other good 'wok hay' non-seafood dishes
- not extremely expensive (would give up the nice decor for good food)

Thanks in advance!

A question answered with another question ... not for me but more data for the experts to formulate their answer.

Do you have a budget in mind?

    Good eating to you.

I'd say about roughly $30-35 per person.

        O Mei
        Win's Seafood
        Fishermen Clubhouse
and Emperor ( not as extensive a selection as above but inclusion due to high calibre of its kitchen )
Just 'search' for more detail. All had been extensively reviewed!

Thanks Charles. I will look into O Mei and Win's. We've been to Fisherman Clubhouse so we'd like to try another restaurant.

Between O Mei and Win's Seafood, which would you prefer in terms of consistent quality?

If you haven't tried the Giant Lobster 4 ways, then O'Mei is a must! Steamed live French Turbot with ginger, scallions and premium top soy is excellent but they charge around $25 per pound. They also offer whole live Geoduck clams sashimi style.

Win's Dungeness crab or Lobster with Rum cream sauce is pretty good too! More seafood choices than O'Mei. Especially in the area of steamed fish. But more does not necessarily equate to better!!

Between the two, I would say O'Mei is more consistent but more expensive!

Again, do not write off the Emperor! They make a gorgeous Sauteed lobster with crispy shallots and garlic. As well, their Honey glazed west coast oysters are to die for!! IMO, best in the city! I believe they have a lobster special on Sunday for $13.88 per lb. O'Mei will charge you at least $3-4 more per pound!
