A restaurant in area of Penn's campus on a Sunday afternoon

Lookin for a reasonably priced, but nice meal for a Sunday afternoon around 3 PM on or near the campus. Taking my niece out. Thanks.

JG Domestic is Jose Garces’ farm to table American small plate restaurant located in the first floor Cira Centre, just off of 30th Street Station - Oh sorry opens at 5:00 pm weekends and should you be able to wait till then I would go with Distrito, which can be reasonably priced based on your choices of food and drink.

The White Dog now once again is a good choice, bar menu or other, after declining in recent years.

If you would consider a short, cheap cab ride or a bit of a walk if a nice day your options would increase significantly and I am sure a CH could offer suggestions given that scenario

Thanks for all your suggestions. Can't get excited about the Bar menu at The White Dog Cafe. now my brother thinks we should go to Little Pete's near the Art Museum. Such decisions.

Personally I'd probably go to Resurrection Ale House just across the river. Quick taxi ride, good food.

Sang Kee noodle house. I've never been to the one in West Phila. but recommend the Sang Kee in Chinatown and Wynnewood. Assume this one is good as well.

White Dog Cafe has been a mainstay on the Penn Campus for years. They will be open at that time. I have not been there since the ownership changed. Distrito is also a great option if your neice enjoys mexican. It should be open as they serve Brunch there.

Distrito stops brunch at 2:30 and doesn't start back up until dinner. It looks like White Dog serves a bar menu after 2:30. Many restaurants will not be serving full menus at 3pm unfortunately.

Thanks for checking on the hours Barry. Back in the day I used to eat off the bar menu at the White Dog all the time and found it quite good for lunch and you have access to the dessert tray as well. Too bad about Distrito.

I was going to recommend Biba but they don't open until 4. How about City Tap House at 39th & Walnut? I was there a year ago and it was good, so if that's changed I'll let the other Chowhounders chime in.
