Is Delanghe patisserie closed or not?

Mariska_b Jan 24, 2012 11:36 AM

The shop on Fillmore has gone out of business but there is a shop on Pine st called Delanghe. However I read that Mr. Delanghe retired last year. Is this a different shop with the same name? Someone please clarify!

It is La Boulange on Pine not Delanghe

The Delanghe bakery site (which was at Fillmore & Bush) is now a different bakery under new ownership. La Boulange has operated on Pine, west of Fillmore, for many years.

The new place is called Fillmore Bakeshop. Has anyone tried it? I seem to remember reading about a father and daughter.

          I do miss Delanghe.

It's very similar. So much so, that I would bet there are customers who never caught the changeover. The main difference is more variety, and some interesting stuff. Delanghe's baked goods were on the odd side, when they tried to offer something outside the French realm (hit or miss, I thought), and the cases weren't always full the last few years, so it's nice to see Fillmore Bakeshop's assortment. It's obvious they're trying to fill the void and pick up business from the old clientele. They even do a Princess Cake, which iI guess s a passable knockoff, but I still miss Delanghe's superior version.

Thanks! Will have to check it out. Delanghe made incredible princess cake.
