I am interested in any insight people may have about the Hollywood (not Beverly) location of Cobras & Matadors. I just ate at Cobra Lily last week and wondered if the menu is the same.

  1. Not only are the menus a bit different, but the ownership is also different now that Cobra Lily has been sold.

I like the restaurant but don't love it. The food is generally good - not great tapas but decent enough. My one real problem with C&M (and I haven't been in a while, so it may have changed) is the haughty, disinterested service.

    2. Interestingly enough, my pals and I had amazing service last night. The manager/host was an attentive laugh riot and our server was just enough sweet and sassy and amiable to make the night a delight.

The food was good, but some things that usually please me disappointed. The one thing I always go back for are those lentils. This trip, they were dry and overly toasted with very little flavor, lacking that zing and tang that they usually do. And the asparagus crossed over the line to charred and wilted.

On the other hand, the albondigas which I usually don't care for at C&M were totally on point, flavor and texture.

Sure, it can be hit or miss, but I still enjoy it through and through.

      1. The best part about the C&M is the delicous and well-priced wine list. The host/manager that djquinnnc mentioned is very friendly and accomodating and guide you through all the wines. My favorite is the red wine from Murcia.
The food, well, is okay. The only thing that truly stands out in my memory are the lentils.
It's a great place to go with a bunch of people and drink a bunch of wine == and engage in a little nibble.

        1. I prefer to go to the one on Hollywood since parking is not a hassle and it's in a larger space so you don't feel like the other tables are on top of yours.

I've always had good service and thought the food just as good as the Beverly branch.

          1. i like the food at the one on beverly better. but i like the one in los feliz just fine.

            1. The food at the Hollywood location is atrocious, as is the service. My spanish friends stormed out of there.

BTW, I haven't found any authentic Spanish tapas places in Los Angeles. If anyone has any suggestions...

              1. I love the lentils and serrano ham, my favorite dish. This location is the closest so we go to this location most often. Everyone raves about the french toast for dessert but I don't have a big sweet tooth.

                1. I really like C&M. And really the only thing on the menu I didn't enjoy was the octopus dish.
