Looking for 1) conch fritters, 2) grilled sardines, on Long Island

  • 1

Two different questions--they don't have to be the the same location.

1) is there any place that does justice to conch fritters? I.e., that has a good source for them (not canned) and knows how to do them up up.

2) an informal place for grilled, fresh sardines, sandwich or platter.

Location is flexible, though preferably from Patchogue and going west to, if possible, not too close to the Queens border.

I'd thought of the Pine Aire Deli (at least for the latter), but didn't notice either on the menu.

  1. I had grilled sardines at Ole in Farmingville a year or so ago, all their food is so good. The only place I ever knew that got conch in buckets rather than canned was Clamman in Southampton, but I know they had trouble sourcing them so you'd have to call. Sorry no recent info, hope it helps a bit.
