NYC Restaurant Week... Where would you go?

  • 4

I know this might be a very vague question to ask, as there are hundreds of restaurants on the city that participate in Restaurant Week... but if you could go to only one for dinner, which one would you go to, and why? I'm fairly new to the city and am looking to expand my dining I.Q. of the city.

  1. Honestly, I think you might want to skip RW in Winter and wait for RW in the summer.

Many of the better choices are not participating this time around because the city has lengthened the duration of RW.

Also reservations opened for RW some time ago and the best restaurants are likely fully committed. Usually the better restaurants only do lunch and not dinner.

Out of the ones participating for dinner, maybe La Promenade des Anglais, Tulsi, or Nuela? They have gotten good reviews here in the past (but for non-RW meals).

We just did RW dinner at Tulsi and it was great. A nice selection of dishes (5 each for appetizer & entrée), including delicious desserts. (We don't usually have dessert in Indian restaurants, so this was an opportunity to try the 2 they offered & share them.)

    2. I had a great meal at Lupa a couple days ago. While the portions were definitely smaller than the normal menu, as one might expect during RW, each dish was well prepared and gave a good sense of what the restaurant is all about (the main purpose of RW in my opinion). We supplemented the RW prix fixe with a couple appetizers from the normal menu -- the sardines with pine nuts and raisins were particularly good -- in addition to some wine, and left feeling fully satisfied. There are some great options for RW in Manhattan, and Lupa is among the best.

      1. I had a wonderful meal at A Voce on 26th and Madison... Likely the best restaurant week meal i've ever had, really excellent food/service/value!
