Good eating in Rosarito Beach
We just spent a week in sleepy wintertime Rosarito. Unfortunately the great Susanna's was closed for vacation, but we had wonderful meals at Bistro Le Cousteau, That's Amore and VIPS, which is the Mexican version of Denny's, but with good food. Le Cousteau is a French restaurant with some Italian dishes and wood-oven pizza. In addition to a perfect Caesar salad, we had tender chicken in a red wine sauce, pasta alfredo and a very Italian pizza with artichoke hearts, capers and olives. Highly recommended. We also liked That's Amore, which is on the main drag (Benito Juarez). Here we had a delicious chicken piccata and a pasta puttanesca that was perfectly al dente and not over-sauced as it can be in many restaurants. For wine, in both these restaurants, we had L.A. Cetto's reserve cabernet, which was so good that we went down to Ensenada to the winery to buy some bottles to bring home. VIPS is located in the big shopping mall at the north end of town. It's nothing fancy, but the breakfasts and sandwiches are terrific. All three of these restaurants are vegetarian friendly.
Thanks for the report.
VIP's always seems busy when we are in the area.
That's Amore is a very good chef-owned and operated Italian restaurant that has been in business for about ten years.
Le Cousteau is also very good and has been around for a long time,. It is a favorite of the locals. Good ingredients, solid cooking
I am glad you had a good time and memorable meals during your vacation in Rosarito.
