possible to get rid of share tab

Is it possible to get rid of the share tab that automatically extends itself from the left side of my screen?

It constantly blocks me from being able to use my mouse for the left-most portion of the posting box.

(Reminds me of the automated little paperclip with eyeballs they called "assistant" in old versions of Ms-Word that would contantly insert itself into what you are doing.)

Anything would be better than fighting that tab constantly. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Edit ...
While I've got this thread started, maybe I could also ask ...

1) Does chowhound have a PM (private messaging) feature?
2) Is it possible to email other members? And if so, where are peoples' email links located?
Thanks!

We removed this tab today and streamlined share options for your sharing enjoyment. Hope you enjoy the change!

It's still there, but with the most recent upgrade, it appears to have changed. It is far less obtrusive, and as long as one doesn't allow one's cursor to float over it, the share tab is now tiny. Thanks, Engineering!

For what it's worth ... Not sure how obtrusive it was before; but on my screen the tab is 4" inches long/tall and extends about an inch into the screen. On my browser, it extends itself if you put the cursor anywhere in the left-most third of the webpage in front of it ... so inches away will do it. And then, it sometimes will not retract and I've had to close the page and reopen it.
Not such a giant issue but I had hoped there was a setting to get rid of it that I'd missed.
Can't see any reason to have that link on a tab like that (verses just having the link stationary on the screen).
        No matter.
Though it partially prevents me from typing in the reply box (requiring me to type with the reply box in the bottom-most third of my screen ... in the grand scheme, a minor annoyance I suppose. I'd just hoped I'd missed a setting somewheres.
        Thanx for the input.

Yeah, i personally don't see any improvement and have always had the same issues you have had. My personal opinion is it always should have been put at the top of the page where the like, emal stuff is in a drop down menu. This is just a duplication of that info that is already there.

Well, that's odd. You're right, for me today it is the same as it ever was. Yesterday when I noticed the greatly reduced size and different functionality - it was one-quarter the width - I was on a different PC than what I normally use, running Firefox. Today, back on my own PC with Chrome and the share tab is as big and obnoxious as it was from the beginning.

I've found a way to get rid of the tab. It requires a bit of finagling, but it works.

          > share tab

Like most restaurant websites, a snazzy feature that does not conform to windows standards.

RW, I do love me some F. food and Cking.

Someone official will have to answer your tab quiestion.

            However,

            1. no pm system (on purpose, search this board for reasons why)

            2. if anyone wants to be reached, they put their email address on their profile page

Welcome to Chowhound. You have some good tips in your area ... and ... I will forever see a topic you mentioned in another thread as french cooking and probably giggle each time. good one. Gotta love someone who is so focused on food to have that thought.

              rworange & GraydonCarter ...
thank you so much for your replies, I wasn't having much luck finding any info in any help pages. I think that errant little tab is going to be my hairshirt until I figure something out.
And thank you for the welcome!

btw: Glad you appreciated my error regarding French Cooking, which was some of my earliest training in the kitchen back in the mid 1970’s ... ah, the 70’s ... no doubt what I can attribute my innocent mistake to ;-)
