Have just returned from our third trip to Surfish in the past few weeks. We don't seem to be able to go there without at least one order of Chupe (tonight we each got our own) -- a shrimp bisque with a load of shrimp and other goodies. Also had a ceviche and a salad, and both were very good. We've also tried several appetizers (roasted zucchini with goat cheese & crab, ribs) and several entrees (a fish special on our first visit, the menu chicken on the 2nd), and haven't come across a clunker yet in our selections.

Service is very friendly, and prices are quite reasonable for the quality and presentation of the food. It's now become a regular part of our rotation.

Agreed - somewhat under the radar particularly given the high quality of the food. I love the ceviche tasting - 3 of any of the ceviches on their menu. Almost too pretty to eat but it's always just scrumptious and they use impeccably fresh fish. We've never had a clunker there either and the service is very friendly and accommodating. I am no expert on Peruvian food, but this place is just great.

For some reason, I had always assumed that this place "just" another 5th Avenue Peruvian roasted chicken place, like Coco Roco and El Pollo. Now I'm kicking myself that I didn't try it earlier! I agree with MM and Bookistan above that the chupe and ceviches are great, and the service friendly. Just wanted to add two notes here: (1) Try the tamalito verde, and (2) you can get 30% off via savored.com.
