Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx
Start New Threadwe were going to go into the city with a group for girls night but three of the five cancelled. So it's just the two of us. We need a restaurant for the two of us. And preferably somewhere in an area with a good bar scene afterwards. Thinking Smith Street, or maybe downtown. Where should we eat and where should go out after?

You could always go to Dumont or St. Anselm in Williamsburg and then head to one of the approximately 10,000 bars in the area.

White Star is the bar you should go to. On Essex street downtown. Have dinner before at Shanghai Cafe.

I live near Smith Street and wouldn't call it lame. I didn't recommend a place in the area because for my taste the best restaurants (Prime Meats, Buttermilk, Frankies) either don't take reservations or would be a tough bet at the last minute. Additionally, I'm not a fan of the bars near those restaurants (Brooklyn Social is fine, but very crowded on weekends). There are many delightful bars in Williamsburg that are great for people in their 30s and 40s, especially once you get away from the Bedford L - St. Austere, Night of Joy, Custom, etc. etc. etc.
