Restaurant like Sammy's Roumanian in LA?

I just moved to LA after 10 years in NYC. I used to go to Sammy's Roumanian on the LES a few times a year. As an east coast Jewish princess I totally heart that place. I was telling some LA friends about Sammy's and wanted to see if anyone knows of a restaurant similar to Sammy's in the LA area. The ice cold vodka, singing and dancing are a must. I could care less how the food tastes. It's all about the atmosphere (and I don't eat meat so I barely ate when I went to Sammy's anyhow). Any suggestions? Thanks!

  1. You could check out Tokyo Delve's in NoHo as well as Romanov in Studio City and see if either one eases your pangs of Sammy's nostalgia.

    -----
    Tokyo Delve's Sushi Bar
5239 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91601

    Romanov Restaurant
12229 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604

    1. Saying that the Sammy like food doesn't count is like asking whether there is anyplace like Hawaii, except that the water and weather don't count. The short answer is that there is nothing at all in the Los Angeles area that comes close to Sammy's Romanian, love it or loathe it. If all you are looking for is Klezmer music with audience participation, you can find that (you may have to bring your own vodka).

Sammy's is one of a kind. There are other one of a kind places in Los Angeles, but they're not Sammy's, they don't have Sammy's history, etc.
