Reservations possible for dim sum on Jan 28 in downtown LA?

A large family group would like to see the Dragon parade downtown, and
try to fit in a visit to CBS, Ocean or perhaps Empress Pav. for some dim sum.

Is this workable? I know from past experience it is a zoo during CNY...any tips/info appreciated.

      Of course it's workable.

Plus, Jan. 28 is not Chinese New Year.

But Jan. 28 is the date of the Chinatown parade. Chinatown restaurants are a zoo after the parade, so I'd call ahead to the particular restaurant to see if they take reservations.

Last year, I made the mistake of driving to Chinatown on the day of the Parade. Took me 2 hours just to maneuver within to find a parking spot. Finally gave up and turned back. Perhaps, taking public transport will be more workable this particular day.
