Oyster Roast in Greenville SC

Ford"s did a Oyster Roast last Sunday and it was great. The oysters were from the James River in Va and were super clean. I am from the Low Country of SC it is rare to find a good Oyster Roast up here. It is Sunday from 1-5pm. I hope it does well, I could use a good oyster roast every couple of weeks.

They have the tools and towels all you have to do is show up.

  1. JB,

We went to fords twice early on and it was just so-so.Do you think they have pulled it together? One of my problems is that I measure Greenville with a Charleston yardstick. The part about Virginia oysters is encouraging. For the life of me I can't understand the attraction to gulf oysters other than they do come in really nice uniform shells!

I agree about the oysters. Gulf stuff are just not as tasty. I really like this place. It is not fine dining but a good pub/sports bar. I am from Charleston and I agree, it used to be tough at first but I have relaxed some. I realized that I was comparing apples to oranges.

    2. Poor JB!
Think about coming down for the Sullivans Island Roast on February 11. Local oysters!

I don't know how often you get down, but in addition to Crosby's at Folly, "Sellsfish" in Summerville is a great resource for oysters and fish on the way home. They will have both local clusters ang great "Stump Sound" singles from the Sneed's Ferry NC area. They are about 1/4 of a mile off I-26,very convenient!
