Good lunch in LIC or nearby (preferably "ethnic" for new year's resolution)?
my new year's resolution is to try out new cuisines at least once a month in places that do a good job at their cuisine. i'm going to be in long island city this saturday (and will have a car) and would like to take the opportunity to try out something great there.
by "new cuisine", i mean a country's cuisine that i can't name more than 3 typical dishes from. for example, i can name 3 italian dishes but not 3 burmese/malaysian/peruvian dishes. so something less common.
if not a different cuisine, just a place to grab a great lunch without a long wait would be nice.
thanks in advance!

Strictly in LIC, there is Ihawan for Philippino cuisine. I've never been there. 5-Star Diner is alright for Indian. If you range a little bit east in what is technically Astoria, you can try Arepas Cafe for Venezuelan. They are very good. If you go south across the bridge into Greenpoint, you can try excellent Polish food at Lomzynianka on Manhattan Avenue.
