Gonna make a day trip to North Beach, any good liquor stores near by?

As a favor to friend, I gotta check out Pinocchio in North Beach this coming weekend(gonna just go grab lunch). Since I am making a trip into the city I figured I would see if there are any good liquor stores around. Not looking for anything in particular, just some place with a good selection of vodkas, scotch etc, so hopefully I can find something either interesting or cheap that I can't get at the Lucky or Trader Joes. Something like a BevMo or with similar or better selection. I would go to BevMo but it seems to be kind of out of my way since I am planning on just going from the bart(coming from east bay) to North Beach and maybe back down more by the embarcadero side.

Thanks for the help

Check out Coit Liquor. I was going to say John Walker but it seems they closed.

Went to Coit, they had a decent selection considering the lack of space. Forgot to check out their wines though. Did get a good bottle of vodka.

Cask has a lot of hard-to-find-stuff. Third and Market, between Powell and Montgomery BART stations. http://www.caskstore.com

Coit tore out a lot of the liquor shelves to make room for a wine bar. Still has stuff that's hard to find elsewhere, but not as big a selection as before.

Coit Liquors is a pale shadow of its former self. I thing the largest selection of spirits in the area (I can't speak to the price aspect, since I don't shop that way) is at The Jug Shop on Pacific near Polk. There is a very informative web site.

Went to Cask, absolutely love it. Great selection and the prices are not bad considering the prime location and fancy looking shop. Thanks for the tip!

K&L has a great selection. Easy bus ride from North Beach, and you could take Muni Metro back to BART. http://www.klwines.com/store_location...

Healthy Spirits on Castro and 15th has an eclectic selection of bourbons and scotches you're not likely to find anywhere else. It's a boutique store specializing in whiskeys and craft beer, both domestic and European. While not particularly cheap, the selection of whiskeys and Belgian beer is impressive. Healthy Spirits is accessible by MUNI metro, either at Castro or Church station with a few blocks walk. Check the link for their menu and blog.

Jug Shop is about 10 blocks west of Columbus. You can check out some of their selection online. (Bonus if you're driving: they have a parking lot.)

I like them most for their Friday night beer tastings. Tomorrow night's will be a bit pricier than usual but will offer many expensive and not so easy to find beers.
