BK onion rings - new recipe

I'm sitting here munching on some onion rings from Burger King and am surprised that they have revised their recipe. I think they are much better now. The batter is lighter and not thick with cornmeal as before (which made them gritty IMO). The ambigulous onion filling has a much more pungent onion powder flavor and is less sweet. The pack even has two different sizes onion rings as opposed to the all identical ones before. It gives the impression of a more naturally formed product - keyword being "impression". I am enjoying them as they are my a deep fried guilty pleasure for me.

Has anyone else tried them?

So you're saying that they're better fake onion rings than before? :o)

Are there any FF chains that have decent _real_ onion rings, btw? Sorry if this is a thread hijack.

I always liked A&W onion rings. Real onions. Hate minced onion rings.

            They're still frozen, though.

Not in Canada. They must be different between the countries.

The Habit , Farmer's Boy, Fat Burger, Steak n Shake, and Carl's Jr all have better (and real) onion rings. (IMO)

Cheeburger has decent onion rings. Yes, with real onions.

If you're in the LA area, Fatburger has some of the best onion rings I've ever tasted.

Yes, real onions and a tasty, lightly crispy crunchy batter (not thick and greasy, like some beer battered onion rings tend to be).

I've had Fatburger's rings a few times, and each time (I don't know how they do this) the onion seems to be almost flavorless. Good batter and all that, but barely any onion flavor. YMMV.

Not a fan of beer batters in general. What I really like is a thin, crispy cornmeal batter. It's fine if they fall apart.

Arby's has real onion rings, nice thick sliced whole onion rings...Hardee's also has thick cut beer battered onion rings..not fake minced onion tasting stuff that to many ff places try to pass off as onion rings.

                          Damn, that's terrible news.

Where am I going to get my fake onion ring fix now? And I mean that with all sincerity.

I admit I love the fake onion rings. I don't get the slimey tapeworm onion pulling out of the batter and slapping me on the chin.

I've always wondered what the BK onion rings would be like with a good bowl of Wendy's chili.

There's a Mc Ds across the street. I could do a trifecta with onion rings, chili and a filet o fish....

Ever try the onion rings at the hot deli section at WalMart? Not too bad at all (real rings) and you get quite a few in a pound for like $3.

I long for the BK rings of yore. They were fake back then too, but soo much better. Now it's like they cut the fake, minced onion with filler.

i remember them...i think they were like an aggregate of reconstituted onion. but yeah, bits of onion nonetheless. Now it's an onion flavored paste. Still, I like them. :)
