Vegan/vegetarian friendly under $100/person total ?
Coming to town for the Just Food Conference on Feb 24. My friend is a vegan leaning vegetarian and I'm a vegetarian leaning omnivore. We'd like to spend around 100 dollars each. Blossom and Candle 79 are on our radar but I'd like to know what else is out there. Thanks!
What cubicles said, though I'm not a fan of PF&W.
Dirt Candy is vegetarian,, not vegan, though most of the dishes can be made in vegan versions if you like.
Kajitsu is world-class. It may be vegan, but that's really because Japanese cuisine has no history of dairy. It doesn't "feel" vegan because that style doesn't depend on it. Same could be said for Hangawi. I'm an omnivore leaning carnivore and I love them both, and Dirt Candy as well.
Kajitsu & Hangawai are more serene, DC is more fun/hip. Depends on the vibe you're looking for. If your $100 includes drinks, tax and tip, you'd come in under budget at any of them. Kajitsu would come the closest - the full menu is $70 and the short version is $50. You couldn't order the fanciest sake with the full menu, but you could have a couple decent glasses, certainly.
