Many years ago I ordered this cake off the menu and it was fabulous. However, It is my understanding that you now have to contact K-Paul's in advance to request the cake. I believe you can find the recipe in Paul Prudhomme's Lousiana Cooking cookbook. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

You've linked to one of my favorite recipe sleuthing sites, Uncle Phaedrus! Great fun to find recipes from restaurants of my youth.

Well, the recipe looks good, if labor intensive. But why on earth are they calling the liquid inside the coconut "coconut milk"? This from what one assumes is a professional chef or food editor?

Over sweet and overpriced 80$ for a cake. No thanks.

Agree. Even when Paul was in house and the food was excellent, dessert was not.

Rarely. Executive chef duties were turned over to Paul Miller years ago.

The true chef behind the food was Chef Cannon RIP. Not even a mention anywhere about his passing recently after decades of service. Im interested to see what the food will be like 6 months from now with new hands in the pots...

Really? Was he in the kitchen when K Paul's first opend? THAT food was incredible, nothing at all like what is served today.

From when it opened until what year was it really good?

When Chef Paul P gave KPauls to Paul Miller and stopped being there the quality went down. Also when Mrs K passed the staff said the heart was gone. Just riding coat tails now if you ask me.
