I want to second Westsidegal's comment. Bharat Bazaar / Samosa House never disappoints. Every day, they have new items to try, and the atmosphere just gets more and more pleasant with each visit.
India Sweets and Spices has a kind of hole-in-the-wall appeal, but Bharat has vastly better food. -
Stopped in at Taste of India for a quick experimental bite and tried the goat curry, which was tender and wonderfully flavored - whole cardamom and what looked like peppercorns etc. It's in a dive-y strip mall and is just a simple little place. Tried the eggplant side dish which was fine - rice was nothing to write home about. Goat curry was worth going back for.

To be fair, I haven't eaten there for about a year, but when I last went, it was aggressively mediocre. If you are in the area, there are a number of MUCH better choices for Indian. Offhand, I can think of three: Annapurna (12000 Venice Blvd), India Sweets and Spices (9409 Venice Blvd), and my personal favorite, Bharat Bazaar, 11510 Washington Blvd.

I haven't been to Taste of India, but I second the recommendation for India's Sweets and Spices. They serve some of the best Indian food I've eaten recently, and it's so cheap! With the money you save on your meal, you should try some of their delicious sweets.
